Telehealth is the name given to counseling provided by video through the internet. Telehealth is fast becoming a popular way to receive many different kinds of health care services. It is possible to use this technology for mental health counseling too.
The Enhancement Center is now providing telehealth services for individuals, families, and caregivers. Telehealth isn’t for everyone, but you might be surprised at the ease and convenience. All you need is a personal computer, tablet, or smartphone and a secure location. But for those who are interested, it can be a convenient way to get counseling. For some people help might not be available any other way. Working with people who live in remote parts of Texas and New Mexico where travel can be the issue; to people who live right in the heart of the cities, we serve where traffic can be the issue.
More than just families
Support for people with Autism and their caregivers is important to us and can be done via telehealth. Turns out this can be a godsend to parents, families, and caregivers in the Autism community. They understand how stressful a trip in the car to a strange office can be for their child with Autism. Our, ABA ( Applied Behavioral Analysis) degreed, therapist Cindy Spencer is licensed to provide that service in New Mexico and Texas.
Telehealth Covered by Insurance
Most health insurance companies, including Medicaid, support therapists providing telehealth counseling to their clients. Your copay for the service is no different than if you went to the office to see your therapist.
Flexibility of Telehealth
Some are also using it in addition to seeing their therapist in the office when schedules are tight. It’s great to be able to meet your therapist face-to-face in order to get to know them. Or, you can use telehealth as an option if you are out of town. People also use telehealth when they have a job that takes them out of town for periods of time. They can continue to have their regularly scheduled therapy appointments from a private location from wherever they are staying.
Ask your therapist if they provide telehealth counseling.
